Modern Toilet

Time for another quick blog post while Jazza is in the shower and Emma is waking up :)

Yesterday we were planning on going to Disneyland HK, but it was pouring down with rain, so we decided to save that for another day. Instead, we thought of indoor type things we could do. The first thing we did was went ICE SKATING! :D

I haven’t been ice skating for years, and I was a little worried I was going to suck at it. I thought I’d end up falling over lots, get soaking wet, and be grumpy afterwards (hah)… BUT! I’m so glad we did go ice skating, because I managed to stay on my feet the entire time and it was so much fun! :D

After that, the rain cleared up a bit so we went to Kowloon Island and met up with Jazza’s friend Coco. She was lovely - she showed us lots of cool places.

Kowloon Island is a lot more what I thought Hong Kong was going to be like. It felt a lot more like it was China compared to Hong Kong Island. It was really cool there; there’s loads of lit up advertising boards everywhere. It’s sort of like Times Square in New York but much more widespread. We wandered the streets for a while, and Jazza sampled some of the chinese “street food” … he ate deep fried squid legs. Obviously, being vegetarian, I stayed away from the street food as it was pretty much all just bits of dead animals. We did get some creamy coconut milk though, which tasted delicious! :D

After that, we went into the market, and I used my haggling skills to get a camera case holder for HK$35 down from about HK$50. It’s such an awesome camera case too… it looks like a shark!

Emma got the best deal out of all of us… she bought a pair of wayfarer glasses for HK$50, down from the starting price of HK$125. Impressive bartering there :)

Finally, before we headed home for the night, we went to a restaurant called Modern Toilet. It was the coolest place EVER! You sat on toilets, and the tables were made out of sinks!

There were toilets, and toilet seats on the walls everywhere!

The best part about the restaurant was the fact all the food came served in mini toilets, mini urinals, and mini baths! xD

I had some spicy potato wedges to start, and then some chocolate brownies with a kiwi flavoured juice drink. It all tasted very yummy :)

It’s raining again today so I’m not sure what we’re going to do yet. I’m sure we’ll find something good to do, so I should probably go and get a shower now.

Johnny <3

hey Johnny,

your trip seems to be going really well!
I suck at ice skating, here in Brazil we don’t have snow, but sometimes there’re some places to go ice skating. And I suck, really.

I loooved the restaurant! So cool! And the food looks delicious too.

take care!
Paula

Sounds like a really cool trip :)
Can’t wait to hear more about it..enjoy your time there..you deserve it! =]
<3

You are so lucky that you get to go on all of these awesome adventures. Color me jealous.
I never learned how to ice skate =(
LOL that restaurant sounds hilarious!
How does your case look like a shark?
I hate haggling, I always feel bad and I’m awful at it. =/

I’m glad that you liked the food!
Btw, I’m terribly sorry about the weather, we RARELY get rain during December :/
I hope you can still visit either Disneyland / Ocean Park. Again, I suggest Ocean Park as there are lot more rides and the entrance fee is cheaper ;)

Enjoy your stay!!

X

omg. i really wanted to go to that restaurant a few weeks ago.
you’re so awesome. since you are in hong kong, you think me and my friends can meet you. because we think that you are really awesome!

That restaurant idea is the bomb!
It looks like you’re having the most amazing time!

XD

I’m not sure if I find Modern Toilets funny or plain weird. Maybe it’s just so random it’s funny. Well, I do want to go there someday. Too bad it’s on the other side of the world ;_; (also from Brazil)

Wow, someone was obsessed with toilets to think of that! Lol. =P

i was in hong kong over the summer, HK disney is great, you should definitely go! by the way, vendors tend to hike up prices for foreigners, you never know how much something is supposed to cost. in mainland china, my mum was attempting to haggle for a pair of pants (she sucks at haggling), but she managed to get the price down from 200-something to 90

Hey Johnny
looks like your having fun that restuarant is soo cool ive been there i go there evertime im at hong kong have fun x
(form London)

Hi Johnny (: Welcome to HK and I’m glad you’re having a great time. I actually live five minutes away from the ice skating rink you were at :D Enjoy the rest of you trip!

for some reason eating out of toilet bowls disturbs me. Other than that, (haha) sounds fun. :]

I’ve heard about this restaurant before. Honestly, I don’t know if I could eat there!

Come to México. :)
